Privacy Policy

1. What the app handles

Saare Together works with the following, and nothing beyond it:

• Your checklists. List names, the items on them, and whether they're ticked off. These are stored on your device and in your own iCloud.
• How you arrange them. The order of your lists and the colour you give each one. These are yours alone: they follow you across your own devices through your iCloud, and the people you share a list with never see them.
• Who you've shared a list with. When you invite someone, you type their email address, and the app asks iCloud which Apple Account it belongs to. The share screen then shows the people on the list — their names or email addresses, as iCloud provides them. All of it is kept by iCloud, in your account; none of it is sent to us or kept by us.
• Who added an item. iCloud notes, with every item, which Apple Account added it — that's part of how iCloud works, not something we built. The app reads it for one thing: when someone adds to a list you share, the notification says who. It stays in iCloud, in the list owner's account; we can't see it. iCloud doesn't give the owner's name to the people a list is shared with, so when you join someone's list, the app keeps the name their invitation showed you, on the device where you accepted it.
• Notifications. When someone else adds to a list you share, your phone tells you. The notification is made on your own device, from what iCloud has just synced to it — there's no notification service of ours, and nothing passes through us. You can turn them off for any list in the app, which follows you across your own devices like a list's colour, or for the whole app in iOS Settings.

There's no account of ours to sign up for, no password of ours to remember, no sign-in of any kind, and no profile of you sitting anywhere in our hands.

2. Where your lists live

In your iCloud account, in a private area reserved for this app. The app talks to iCloud directly from your phone. Nothing passes through any machine of ours, because we don't have any.

This is worth being precise about: we have no technical ability to read your lists. Data an app stores in a user's private iCloud database is not visible to the app's developer — Apple doesn't provide us a way to see it, whether we wanted to or not. Your iCloud is covered by Apple's privacy policy.

Because your lists sit in iCloud rather than on your phone alone, they're already on every Apple device signed into the same iCloud account, and they survive losing or replacing a phone.

3. Sharing a list

You invite someone by their email address, and choose whether they can edit the list or only view it. iCloud adds them to the list, and you send them the link however you like — a message, an email, a note. The link opens only for people you've added. They accept, and the list appears in their app.

When the link is shared, its preview shows the list's name and the app's icon, so the person receiving it can see what it is before opening it.

From then on, everyone on the list sees the same thing. You can change whether someone can edit or only view, remove them, or stop sharing altogether, from the same screen. Removing someone takes their copy away.

We are not part of any of this. The invitation, the participants and the shared data are between you, them and Apple. We can't see who you've shared with, and we can't see the list.

4. What we don't do

• There's no analytics or telemetry of any kind in the app.
• No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
• No tracking you across other apps or websites.
• Nothing sold or handed to data brokers.
• No server of ours receives your checklists, because there isn't one.

5. Keeping and deleting your data

• Deleting a list removes it from your iCloud and from every device signed into your account — and, if it was shared, from everyone you shared it with. It can't be undone.
• Leaving a shared list removes only your copy. The owner keeps theirs, and so does everyone else on it.
• Deleting the app removes the copy on that device. Your lists stay in iCloud and come back if you install it again.
• Removing everything: in iOS Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, then Manage Account Storage — Saare Together appears there, and deleting its data removes the lot.

Since we don't hold a copy of any of it, there's nothing on our side to keep and nothing for us to delete on your behalf.

6. This website

These pages set no cookies of their own, and carry no analytics and no third-party scripts — even the fonts are served from this site rather than from anyone else's. Our hosting provider keeps the usual server access logs — IP address, time, and which page was asked for — for security and to keep things running, the same as essentially every web host does. We don't use those logs to build a picture of who's visiting.

7. Children

Saare Together isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. The app needs an iCloud account, which carries Apple's own age requirements.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live — including under Canada's PIPEDA, the EU and UK GDPR, and California's CCPA — you may have the right to see, correct, export or delete personal information a company holds about you. In our case the answer is unusually straightforward: apart from the server access logs described in section 6, we hold none. Your checklists sit in your own iCloud account, where Apple's own tools already let you manage and delete them. If you think we're holding something of yours, write to us and we'll look into it.

9. Changes to this policy

If anything here changes in a meaningful way — particularly if the app ever starts collecting anything at all — we'll update this page and the date at the top of it before that change ships.
